Search engine terms

It’s been a while, so I might have a few this time.

“hentai futanari idol first time” – I hope all these people looking for hentai aren’t too disappointed when the only reason my blog shows up in their searches is the song from Parade Parade.

“craziest anime hairs” – no surprise that found this, it’s just not the phrasing I’d expect

“kinder and bryant songs” – glad to see someone searching for this; Anne Bryant and Ford Kinder don’t get enough credit. They wrote the theme songs for many 80’s cartoons, most notably Transformers and Jem.

Science of Anime: Getter Rays

Getter Robo is full of things that defy the laws of physics, but it’s not really the physics that we’ll be looking into today. It’s the implications the title robot’s power source has for biology that concerns us.

Getter Rays are called the energy of evolution. (As is Spiral Power from Gurren Lagann, in direct homage to Getter.) They are said to be what originally wiped out the dinosaurs on the surface, and are still harmful to the reptilians of the Dinosaur Empire. Most of the other things they do don’t really have anything to do with evolution at all.

Search Engine Terms

I was looking over my search engine terms and these stood out.

“anime hair that goes up then down” – I assume that search found this, but if it didn’t, here you go.

“anime with a crazy main character” – What it actually found was probably the same set of posts, but since I mentioned Ryoma Nagare maybe that’s okay.

“zoe quinn dark enlightenment” – I didn’t know what “Dark Enlightenment” was and I kind of wish I still didn’t. I still don’t know why anyone was searching for that phrase, though; neither Zoe Quinn nor ‘gamergate’ is suggested to be connected to ‘Dark Enlightenment’ on any page that my search found, not even the ones that seemed prone to conspiracy theories.

Top 21 craziest anime/game hair: 5-1

This is the final 5 of my list of 21 of the weirdest, most unrealistic, or just plain crazy examples of hairstyles in anime, manga, and video games.

Part 1, Part 2, and Part 3.

monkey with human hair

#5. Dixie Kong

I wanted to keep this to human-like characters, but in Dixie Kong’s case the fact that she’s a monkey with human-like hair that looks nothing like her fur is part of the weirdness.

But there’s also the fact that she can, depending on the game, either hover or double jump by twirling it. In Donkey Kong Country 2, this also somehow lets Diddy Kong stay in the air longer when he’s following her, even though they’re not touching.

Top 21 craziest anime/game hair: 10-6

This is part 3 of my list of 21 of the weirdest, most unrealistic, or just plain crazy examples of hairstyles in anime, manga, and video games.

Part 1 and Part 2.

big hair, no goggles

#10. Taichi “Tai” Kamiya/Yagami

The main character of the first season of Digimon, here he is in the second season, after passing his goggles on to Davis/Daisuke.

Okay, I might be placing him a little too high, but you’ve got to admit having more volume in his hair than in the rest of his head is very distinctive. Losing the goggles only made his hair even bigger.

Top 21 craziest anime/game hair: 21-16

Hair in anime and video games can be any color of the visible spectrum and defy the laws of physics.

This is my list of 21 of the weirdest, most unrealistic, or just plain crazy examples of hairstyles in anime, manga, and video games.

(It was going to be top 20 but then I remembered an obvious one and didn’t want to take anyone off the list.)

a fiery redhead with hotblooded sideburns

#21. Cutie Honey

Though her original incarnation technically wasn’t a magical girl, this android is close enough to be considered the prototype of the “magical girl warrior” subgenre that includes Sailor Moon and Pretty Cure.

And she’s on the list because she’s a girl with the same kind of sideburns as every other Go Nagai protagonist.
