Awesome(ly Cute) Music Thursday: I Want a Hippopotamus for Christmas

I know these posts usually feature music from Japan, but considering the time of year I thought I’d try something different.

This song is from 1953, meaning it’s older than a lot of the “timeless classic” holiday songs. It was sung by 10 year old Gayla Peevey, and the best part is she actually did get a baby hippopotamus for Christmas (which she donated to the Oklahoma City Zoo) as a result of a campaign inspired by this song.
